42.INFINITIVE FORM



· O
infinitivo é a forma original do verbo e
pode aparecer com ou sem a partícula
to.

Ex.:

To do - do

To make - make

To like - like

To go,... - go



Usa-se o infinitivo sem to:



a) após os verbos anômalos, os verbos auxiliares do e will e os verbos make e let.

Ex.:

I
can swim.

Do you like coffee?

Let me go.



b) após as conjunções but e except.

Ex.:

I will do nothing
but cry.



Usa-se o infinitivo com to:



a) após os verbos tell, invite, teach, remind, wish, desire, want.

Ex.:

I
want to go home.

He
told me to
stop
.



b) após as palavras too,
enough, the first, the second, the last, the only
.

Ex.:

We
are too young to
die
.

I
was the
first
one to arrive.



c) após adjetivos.

Ex.:

This exercise is
difficult to do.
